There are many Memorials in every state that are documented but many more that are undocumented.  Please feel free to contact me to register a Memorial near you (previously documented or undocumented). When you register a Memorial please include the physical address of the Memorial; the designer (if known), date dedicated, any website links for the memorial, and any other information you believe may be pertinent.  All efforts will be made to ensure that the information provided is included on this website. 

Information will also be listed for each states Veterans Offices and Hospitals.

  • AEF - American Expeditionary Forces
  • Battalion - 300-1,000 Soldiers
  • Battery - a fortification formed by moving earth or other materials into hill-like formations to protect artillery having the following components:  Parapet, Terreplain, Banquette, Embrasure, Barbette
  • Brigade - 3000 to 5000 Soldiers
  • CSA - Confederate States of America
  • Cenotaph - a sepulchral monument erected in memory of a deceased person whose body is buried elsewhere.
  • Company - 62-190 Soldiers
  • Congressional Medal of Honor - Established July 1862
  • Division - 10,000 to 15,000 Soldiers
  • Corps - 20,000 to 45,000 Soldiers
  • Doughboys - Nickname given to the American Expeditionary Force that took part in the later years of World War I. Term replaced with GI.
  • Ducit Amore Patriae - The Love of My Country Leads Me
  • Dulce et Decorum est pro Patria Mori - It Is Sweet and Right To Die For Your Country.
  • "Dum tacet clamat" - Latin phrase found on many Woodman of the World Memorials, means "Though silent, he speaks".
